Optimum Nutrition's 100% Casein Gold protein is the most beneficial delayed release protein. If whey protein is desirable just before and just after exercise, 100% Casein Gold protein is desirable for the rest of the day.

A slowly assimilated protein will be very important for the athlete as it can provide anabolic coverage over the entire night. What is at the origin of this more or less rapid assimilation is the choice of the protein. Egg (albumin) or milk (casein) proteins are therefore much more interesting from a biological point of view at certain times of the day, such as at bedtime.

Casein protein has a very high biological value and it takes the body between 6 and 8 hours to fully assimilate it. Throughout this assimilation phase, it provides amino acids. It is this permanent and lasting release of amino acids that gives casein its anti-catabolic properties.

Thus the intake of 100% Casein Gold contributes to the good post-exercise recovery and to the reconstruction of the muscular fibers. It also slows down the deterioration of muscle fibers due to fatigue or over-intensive training and prevents muscle loss. Indeed, if the body lacks protein intake, the reserves of amino acids in the muscles will be quickly exhausted. This product contains 10g of essential amino acids. The casein protein, which diffuses its amino acids very slowly in the body, prevents muscle catabolism during these long periods.

This slow-digesting protein that supports muscle growth and rebuilding contains zinc and magnesium. Zinc contributes to the proper functioning of the immune system, and magnesium contributes to protein synthesis.
