Optimum Nutrition 100% Casein Gold protein is the most beneficial of all delayed-release proteins. If whey protein is desirable just before and just after exercise, 100% Casein Gold protein is desirable for the rest of the day. A slowly assimilated protein will be very important for the athlete insofar as it can provide anabolic coverage over the whole night. The reason for this more or less rapid assimilation is the choice of protein. Egg (albumin) or milk (casein) proteins are therefore much more biologically interesting at certain times of the day, such as bedtime. Casein protein has a very high biological value, and it takes the body between 6 and 8 hours to fully assimilate it. Throughout this assimilation phase, it supplies the body with amino acids.
