The multi-layer padding absorbs the repeated impacts of sparring and intensive padwork. The inner lining conforms to the leg's morphology, keeping the protection in place without excessive pressure on the calf, even after several rounds.
SP8 specificity: the lateral reinforcement extends up the side of the knee to block angled attacks, an area left exposed on most classic shin pads. Handcrafted in Thailand at the historic Fairtex workshop in Bangkok, founded in 1958.

Are SP8 shin pads competition-legal?
No, the SP8 is not designed for amateur Muay Thai competition under IFMA rules, which require shin pads without rigid detachable instep protection. The SP8 is intended for training, intensive sparring and padwork. For IFMA competition, dedicated amateur-format models are required.
How to choose between size S, M, L or XL?
Size is selected based on calf circumference and shin length. S fits frames up to about 60 kg, M from 60 to 75 kg, L from 75 to 90 kg, and XL above 90 kg. For intensive use, take the size that exactly matches the morphology rather than one size up, otherwise the protection will rotate during rounds.

How to maintain the SP8 shin pads?
After each session, wipe the Syntek exterior with a damp cloth and let it air-dry, never on a radiator. The inner lining can be sprayed with an antibacterial sport spray. Never machine-wash or use solvents, this would damage the foam and the Bridge system stitching.
