Description Focus Mitts HitnMove White/Gold Standard
The HIT N MOVE TURTLE® are coaching mitts completely redesigned around an orthopaedic problem: with standard focus mitts, coaches have to twist the wrist or expose the back of the hand to catch body shots, causing chronic elbow and wrist pain documented in sports medicine. The solution is the "dorsal shell" — a padded surface integrated on the back of the mitt, inspired by a turtle's shell. The coach can present the back of the mitt to the boxer to absorb body shots without any arm twisting. For the first time, a boxing mitt integrates an active catching surface on both sides. Available in Black and White, handcrafted by artisans selected by HIT N MOVE.
The idea came in 2022 when HIT N MOVE founder Ozhan Akcakaya, working alongside his orthopaedic colleagues, found that many coaches were seeking medical treatment for elbow and wrist pain caused by the forced positions of standard mitt holding. During a run, he picked up a turtle crossing the road and immediately saw that the curvature of its shell matched exactly what he had been trying to design. The Turtle® trademark was filed immediately, followed by 14 months of prototyping. The result is a lightweight, balanced mitt that allows seamless head-to-body drill transitions without any grip change.
The TURTLE® are used by Calvin Ford, head trainer of Gervonta Davis, in his training camp. They are built for any coach who holds mitts — from amateur gym coaches to professional-level trainers. They also work for training partners without a formal coach. Distributed in Switzerland exclusively by CombatCorner, official distributor of HIT N MOVE.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the "dorsal shell" on the TURTLE® mitts?
The dorsal shell is the padded zone on the back of the mitt — the part that visually resembles a turtle's shell. It forms a second active catching surface: the coach presents the back of the mitt to the boxer to catch body shots, without having to twist the wrist or flip the glove. Before the TURTLE®, no boxing mitt allowed body shots to be caught in an anatomically safe position.
How do the TURTLE® reduce injuries for coaches?
With standard mitts, a coach has to force the wrist into external rotation or supination to create a catching angle for body shots. Repeated across hundreds of rounds per week, this twisting fatigues the elbow and wrist ligaments. The dorsal shell of the TURTLE® eliminates this twisting by giving the coach a naturally oriented catching surface when the arm is held in a neutral position.
Are the TURTLE® suitable for fast drills and complex combinations?
Yes. The lightweight, balanced design of the TURTLE® allows the coach to shift from head catching (palm) to body catching (back/dorsal shell) without any grip change or pause. This gives the coach the ability to build fast head-body sequences. This type of drill was slow with standard mitts, which require deliberate repositioning for body shots.
What is the difference between the TURTLE®, the Mega Turtle and the Micro Turtle?
The TURTLE® are the original mitts in the range — the standard balanced format for all coaching drills. The Mega Turtle is the larger, softer format built for heavy punchers. The Micro Turtle is a compact target for the boxer's precision and timing drills. All three share the Turtle® curve and philosophy but are designed for distinct training contexts.
Do you need to be a professional coach to use the TURTLE®?
No. The TURTLE® are designed with professional coaches in mind, but they work for anyone who holds mitts — a sparring partner, a training friend at the gym or at home. The dorsal shell is particularly useful for training pairs where one person is not a trained coach but still needs to create body shot angles without risk to the wrist.
