What does "MGO" mean?
MGO stands for Methylglyoxal, the naturally occurring compound that sets Manuka honey apart from other honeys and makes it so special.
Scientists at the Technical University of Dresden, Germany discovered Methylglyoxal (MGO) as the key ingredient in Manuka honeys. This was the major scientific breakthrough after many years of searching for the "mysterious Manuka factor."
In 2008, Manuka Health pioneered the development and introduction of MGO certification for Manuka honeys using the TU Dresden method. It sets precise and scientifically reliable standards for assessing the MGO content of Manuka honeys.
Manuka Health's MGO certification means that every jar of honey in New Zealand is tested and certified for its MGO content, as well as its purity and quality, using Prof. Henle's method.
Recommendation
Simply enjoy pure from the teaspoon!
You can also stir the Manuka honeys into your hot tea or milk, because MGO is largely insensitive to heat - spoon for spoon delicious!
